Parents, as teachers, are responsible for the wealth of knowledge, skills and experience the children bring with them to school.
We need your continued involvement in our school community to enable us to extend the range of things we can offer the children and, more importantly, to show your children that we are working together as a team, helping each other to help them.
Some Ways That You Can Help Us Are:
Reading to Children
Just as you read to your own children at home.
Typing children’s writing into books/booklets (format will be shown).
Art and Craft
Working with teachers helping children with art and craft activities. No talent required, just interest and enthusiasm.
Helping children find books, issuing books (training will be given).
Before and after school. This important task, done by senior students, requires parents to watch over them. Patrols are on duty before school (8.30 – 8.55 am) and at the end of the day (3.00 – 3.10 pm).
Helping with sports teams and events involving lunchtime sports groups, inter-school sports and after school/weekend sports teams (such as touch rugby or netball).
Providing assistance with supervision and transport. We have a variety of activities that require additional numbers of adults to ensure the children’s safety. With many parents working, this can be a challenge. It is hoped that all parents will help us by taking their turn to assist.
At Gracefield we believe that learning should be a lifelong experience, so maybe now is the time for you to try something new and learn
alongside your child. Not only will you master new skills, but you will meet new people.
